Law Clerk on Gilligan's Island
Dateline: Palau

Hankerin' for the hot story out of Sonsorol?
Watching CNN for live updates from the Governor's mansion in Ngardmau State?
Thanks to a nation that carries no copyright laws on its books,

here are the latest headlines from Palau (commentary by yours truly).  Enjoy!
(These are direct quotes from the local papers, typos and all.)

Sorry folks.  No news is good news.

I left Palau in September, 1999.
It would be silly to leave headlines from months or years ago up, pretending they were current. (Although they'd still be more timely than the Tia Belau.)

But if you've got a real news jones, here are my predictions of what today's headlines might be:

USACOE reports construction delays in Compact Road Project
Cites miscommunication with contractors, materials shortages, design changes.   Predicts completion in 2009.

Even without addressing any capital projects of any kind
FY budget draws down remaining reserved compact funds

Special Prosecutor investigating Judiciary's hiring of US, not Palauan, judges and clerks

Japan, Taiwan companies break ground on 6 major hotel projects in conservation-zoned areas
Groundbreaking on first golf course delayed yet again
