Law Clerk on Gilligan's Island
Diary of a Castaway

Ever wanted to quit your suit-and-tie corporate job and take off for the tropics?

Here are some honest-to-God, guaranteed 100% true stories from my year in Palau.
These entries were written contemporaneously with my time there in 1998 and 1999.

Prologue
How do I get myself into these kind of things?

Chapter 1- Preparations
Note to self: next time, research the place before you say you'll take the job.

Chapter 2- The Journey Begins
3,000 words about 10,000 miles.

Chapter 3- In Country
Palau is very senic. In the dark, anyway..

Chapter 4- Palau By Day

Chapter 5- Explosions
A tale to make scuba instructors and plumbers weep.

Chapter 6- Work Begins
In which I leave for work in a suit and come home without shoes.

Chapter 7- Adios, Farewell, Auf Weidersein
We bid goodbye to Kendall and ponder the inscrutable mysteries of a bag of Doritos.

Chapter 8- Miscellany
Nothing new happens.

Chapter 9- Payday
Find out how much money I make.  Plus, a kayaking trip leads to yet another shoe problem.

Chapter 10- Telephone Trouble
In which ongoing telephone problems are indirectly responsible for a terrifying dining experience.

Chapter 11- Tourism Awareness Week
Laugh all you want, but at least I beat Stephanie. . .

Chapter 12- Anguar
Reflections on death and loss on the southern isle of Anguar.

Chapter 13- Christmas
"Leaves of Grass" it ain't, but it's got a happy ending.

Strange things are happening in the Demosel Restaurant.

Chapter 16- Karl

Chapter 17- The Land of Oz
Memoirs of a vacation Down Under.

Chapter 18- End of the Line
All good things must come to an end. Coincidentally, this one does too.
